London Underground, affectionately known as the ‘Tube’, is the 12th busiest metro system in the World with over 5 million passenger journeys a day. The Underground system operates over eleven lines, containing 250 miles (400km) of track and serving 270 stations, stretching across the City, Greater London and parts of Buckinghamshire, Essex and Hertfordshire.
The eleven lines currently operated require a large fleet of rolling stock to maintain service levels. In total, the Bakerloo, Central, Circle, District, Hammersmith & City, Jubilee, Metropolitan, Northern, Piccadilly, Victoria, Waterloo & City lines require over 670 trains.
