London Overground Withdrawn Rolling Stock

London Overground Bombardier Transportation Class 172 Turbostar DMU-172005

Due to the nature of the formation of London Overground, the organisation has inherited a variety of rolling stock from former operators, as well as having its own rolling stock constructed. The North London/Watford DC Lines operated various Electric Multiple units that were replaced by the Bombardier Transportation Class 378 Electric Multiple Units, Whilst the Gospel Oak to Barking line was operated by British Rail Engineering Limited Class 150 Diesel Multiple Units, replaced by Bombardier Transportation Class 172 Diesel Multiple Units.

Latterly, the electrification of the Gospel Oak to Barking Line has seen the Class 172 DMUs cascaded to another operator and being replaced by the Class 710 Aventra EMUs. Alongside this, the size of the Class 710 order was also sufficient to replace the British Rail Engineering Limited Class 315/317 EMUs operating on the Lea Valley Lines.

In this section of the website, you will find our images of the units formerly in operation on the London Overground network, captured at various locations.
